Kids love building tents and then hiding out inside the tent to read, rest, and play. Too often we lose our playfulness in marriage. Building a tent may be just the thing to jazz up an otherwise routine evening at home.

Build Your Tent
Gather a couple flat sheets or large quilts or blankets. String some rope between 2 walls or move some furniture together to drape the sheets/blankets over. Put some fluffy blankets and pillows on the floor.

Cue The Lights
Gather some candles or lanterns. If you have a fireplace, by all means build a fire! The goal is to enjoy the flicker of a flame for this date night.

Plan Your Picnic
You can do something simple like appetizers, sushi, or a cheese tray and wine.  If you want something more elaborate, you can grill some meat and enjoy yummy sides. Are you a foodie? If so, go with a unique theme for your menu!

Put Away the Screens
Turn your phone, TV, and computer off for a night and focus on each other. Talk, laugh, read, open the windows and listen to the crickets. Enjoy a night without a screen in your hand.  This would be a great night to take turns reading a marriage book together (No More Perfect Marriages is a great option!)
